Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Meat Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, half of the chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Form the mixture into 4-6 oval patties.

Cook the Patties: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the Salisbury steak patties, cooking them for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

Prepare the Gravy: In the same skillet, add the remaining chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the beef broth and soy sauce, bringing the mixture to a simmer.

Thicken the Gravy: Once simmering, stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the gravy. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until the gravy reaches your desired thickness.

Combine and Simmer: Return the cooked Salisbury steak patties back to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Let them simmer together for 5 minutes to absorb the flavors.

Serve: Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, and serve hot over mashed potatoes or alongside steamed vegetables for a comforting meal.
