Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

Cooked jasmine rice, for serving

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

In a Bowl, Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, black pepper, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef in a single layer and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.

Stir-Fry the Veggies: In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets and red bell pepper slices, stirring for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Combine and Finish: Return the cooked beef to the pan with the vegetables, and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well to coat everything in the delicious sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, ensuring everything is heated through.

Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for added flavor and presentation.
