Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

6 slices of thick-cut bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese

1 cup heavy cream

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving some bacon drippings in the pan.

Sauté the Onions: In the same skillet with the remaining drippings, add the onions. Sauté until they are soft and translucent (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, eggs, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) until well combined.

Assemble the Quiche: Place the pre-made pie crust in a pie dish. Spread the sautéed onions evenly over the bottom of the crust. Then, sprinkle the cooked bacon and shredded Swiss cheese on top.

Pour the Egg Mixture: Carefully pour the egg and cream mixture over the bacon, cheese, and onions, making sure to cover all the fillings.

Bake the Quiche: Place the quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Cool and Garnish: Once baked, remove the quiche from the oven and allow it to cool for 10-15 minutes. Garnish with fresh chives before slicing.

Serve: Cut into wedges and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy your Quiche Lorraine Delight!
