Ingredients

1 cup water

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for dough)

1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Optional: chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, 1 tablespoon sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. As soon as it reaches a boil, remove it from the heat and stir in the flour and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Allow the dough to cool slightly (about 5 minutes), then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.

Pipe the Churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe strips of dough (about 6 inches long) onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each churro.

Bake the Churros: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the churros are golden and puffed up. They should look crisp on the outside.

Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Coating: While the churros are baking, mix together the 1/2 cup sugar and the 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.

Coat the Churros: Once the churros are baked, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Then, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve: Serve warm with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping. Enjoy your delicious oven-baked churros!
