Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup whole milk

1/4 cup sour cream

1 large egg

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon milk (or more for desired consistency)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.

In another bowl, mix the milk, sour cream, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).

Use a small cookie scoop or spoon to drop tablespoon-sized portions of the donut batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pot.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

While the donut holes cool slightly, prepare the maple glaze. In a bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk to reach your desired glaze consistency.

Once the donut holes have cooled for a few minutes, dip them into the maple glaze, letting any excess drip off, and place them on a wire rack to set.

Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy your delicious maple-glazed donut holes!
