Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, finely minced

Zest of 1 large lemon

Juice of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon slices (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Beans: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and blanch them for about 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.

Ice Bath: Immediately transfer the beans to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain and set aside.

Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.

Add Beans: To the skillet, add the blanched green beans, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss everything together to ensure the beans are well coated in the garlic and lemon mixture.

Cook Together: Continue cooking for another 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and slightly blistered.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving platter. Top with freshly chopped parsley and arrange lemon slices for an appealing presentation.
