Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 teaspoons brown sugar

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup green onions, thinly sliced (plus more for garnish)

1 cup shredded carrots

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Kimchi (optional, for serving)

Pickled cucumbers (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. This will be your flavorful marinade for the ground beef.

Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Using a spatula, break it apart and brown it evenly for about 5 minutes until fully cooked. Drain excess grease if necessary, but leave a little for flavor.

Add the Marinade: Pour the marinade mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet. Stir well to ensure all the meat is evenly coated. Let it simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the beef.

Incorporate Vegetables: Stir in the shredded carrots and sliced green onions. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the carrots are just tender but still vibrant in color.

Serve: In serving bowls, spoon the cooked rice as the base. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture. Garnish with sesame seeds and additional green onions. If desired, serve with kimchi and pickled cucumbers on the side for an authentic touch.

Enjoy: Dig in and savor the delicious flavors of this easy and hearty Korean Ground Beef Bowl!
