Ingredients

8 Hawaiian rolls, split in half

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar (optional, adjust sweetness to taste)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for frying)

Maple syrup, for serving

Fresh pineapple slices (optional, for garnish)

Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar (if using) until well combined.

Soak the Rolls: Dip each half of the Hawaiian rolls into the custard mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Allow the rolls to soak for about 2-3 minutes, ensuring they absorb enough custard without falling apart.

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.

Cook the Rolls: Place the soaked Hawaiian rolls in the skillet, cut-side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is golden and the rolls are cooked through. If needed, add more butter before flipping to keep them from sticking.

Serve Warm: Remove the French toast from the skillet and serve immediately. Drizzle with maple syrup, garnish with fresh pineapple slices, and dust with powdered sugar. Optionally, add a dollop of whipped cream on top for extra indulgence.

Enjoy: Revel in the delicious combination of sweet Hawaiian flavors and creamy French toast goodness!
