Ingredients

6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

4 cups mini marshmallows

5 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Green food coloring (gel or liquid)

1 cup white chocolate chips

1 cup chocolate sprinkles

Assorted candy eyes (big and small)

Mini pretzel rods (for Halloween “horns”)

Edible glitter (optional, for extra sparkle)

Instructions

Prep Your Pan: Start by greasing a 9x13 inch baking dish with a bit of butter or non-stick cooking spray to prevent the treats from sticking.

Melt Butter & Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the 5 tablespoons of butter. Once melted, add the 4 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and smooth. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

Add Vanilla & Color: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Then, slowly add green food coloring until you achieve your desired monster shade, mixing well to ensure even color distribution.

Combine with Cereal: Gradually fold the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture. Mix until all the cereal is evenly coated, being careful not to crush the cereal.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Once well combined, transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands (but wet them first to avoid sticking) to flatten the mixture evenly across the dish.

Cool Down: Let the mixture cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes or until set, then cut into rectangular treats.

Decorate Your Monsters: While the treats are cooling, melt the 1 cup of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring until smooth. Dip the top of each Rice Krispie treat into the melted chocolate to create a “monster face,” then sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles while the chocolate is still wet.

Add Eyes and Horns: While the chocolate is still soft, place assorted candy eyes on top of the treats for a spooky effect. For some treats, stick mini pretzel rods into the sides to create “horns” for an extra creepy look.

Finishing Touches: If using, sprinkle edible glitter over the treats before the chocolate sets for an enchanting touch.

Enjoy! Once everything has set, serve your spooky monster treats at Halloween parties or enjoy them as a festive snack!
