Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

1 cup packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie pan or a deep-dish pie plate with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.

Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Pour the melted butter over the sugars and stir until well combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using), making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour into Pie Pan: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. The edges should be set while the center remains a bit soft and gooey; it will firm up as it cools.

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownie pie to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm for that extra gooey experience, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side!
