Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup whole milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a small saucepan, warm the milk over low heat until it's just warm to the touch. Remove from heat, add the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, and salt.

Combine Ingredients: Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture, then stir well. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined. Set aside.

Shape the Buns: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the cinnamon butter filling evenly over the dough, then sprinkle chopped pecans over the filling.

Roll the Dough: Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the dish with a cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes until puffed.

Preheat the Oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake the Buns: Once risen, bake the sticky buns in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.

Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, drizzled with any remaining butter sauce or a sweet glaze if desired.
