Ingredients

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup cooked Italian sausage, crumbled

1/2 cup bell peppers, thinly sliced (red, green, or yellow)

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Prepare the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately 14x10 inches. You want it to be about 1/4 inch thick.

Spread the sauce: Evenly spread the marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent spilling when rolling.

Layer the fillings: Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce, then layer on the pepperoni, cooked sausage, bell peppers, and olives (if using). Make sure to distribute everything evenly for the best flavor in every bite.

Add seasonings: Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and garlic powder over the top of the fillings for added flavor.

Roll it up: Carefully lift one edge of the dough and begin rolling it tightly toward the opposite edge. Roll it as tightly as possible without forced stretching to ensure it holds its shape while baking.

Seal the edges: Pinch the ends and seams of the rolled Stromboli securely to prevent any filling from leaking out during baking.

Egg wash: Place the Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top and ends with the beaten egg to give it a beautiful golden color when baked.

Make slits: Using a sharp knife, make 3-4 small diagonal slits on top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape while baking.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Cool and slice: Once baked, remove the Stromboli from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes. Slice it into generous pieces and serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.

Garnish (optional): If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving for a touch of freshness.
