Ingredients

1 box (19.5 oz) brownie mix (plus ingredients required to prepare according to package)

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate ganache (easy recipe: 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips + 1/2 cup heavy cream)

1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (optional)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1/4 cup cocoa powder (for dusting)

Fresh berries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Brownies:

    - Preheat your oven as per the instructions on the brownie mix package.

      - Prepare the brownie batter by combining the mix with the required ingredients as indicated on the box.

        - Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan and bake as directed. Once baked, allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.

          Make the Chocolate Ganache:

            - In a small saucepan, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream over low heat until just simmering.

              - Remove from heat and add 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for a couple of minutes, then stir until smooth and glossy. Allow to cool slightly.

                Whip the Cream:

                  - In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

                    - Using an electric mixer, whip the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip.

                      Assemble the Cake:

                        - Once the brownies are cool, cut them into squares (you can also crumble them if you prefer a layered effect).

                          - In a 9x9-inch or equivalent square serving dish, layer half of the brownies at the bottom as the first layer.

                            - Spread half of the whipped cream over the brownie layer. Drizzle half of the chocolate ganache on top of the whipped cream.

                              - If desired, sprinkle half of the crushed Oreos and chopped nuts over the ganache.

                                Layer Again:

                                  - Repeat the layering process with the remaining brownies, whipped cream, ganache, Oreos, and nuts.

                                    Chill the Cake:

                                      - Cover the assembled cake with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best flavor and texture.

                                        Serve:

                                          - Before serving, dust the top of the cake with cocoa powder and garnish with fresh berries if desired. Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious brownie refrigerator cake!
