Ingredients

1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, drained and pressed

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional: 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari for extra flavor

Fresh herbs (like cilantro or green onions) for garnish

Instructions

Preparation of Tofu: Drain the tofu and press it for at least 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut it into 1-inch cubes.

Marinating (optional): If you’d like extra flavor, marinate the tofu cubes in soy sauce or tamari for 10 minutes before proceeding. This step is optional but recommended!

Coat the Tofu: In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the tofu cubes gently until they are evenly coated. The cornstarch will help achieve that extra crunch.

Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they have enough space and aren’t touching to ensure even cooking. You may need to do this in batches depending on the capacity of your air fryer.

Cooking: Air fry the tofu for 15-18 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crispiness. The tofu should be golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Serving: Once done, remove the tofu from the air fryer and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or green onions if desired. Serve it as a snack, add it to salads, or mix it into your favorite stir-fry!
