Ingredients

2 cans (8 oz each) crescent rolls

16 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1/4 cup sour cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

1/2 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) - optional

1/2 tsp lemon zest (optional, for a citrus twist)

Cooking spray or butter (for greasing)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Prepare the Crescent Rolls: Unroll one can of crescent roll dough and lay it flat in the bottom of the prepared baking dish, pressing the seams together to create a uniform layer.

Make the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest (if using). Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.

Add the Eggs and Sour Cream: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, fold in the sour cream until combined. Ensure the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.

Assemble the Casserole: Pour the cheesecake mixture over the layer of crescent rolls in the baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Top with Second Layer of Dough: Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and lay it over the cheesecake filling, pinching the seams together once again to cover the filling as evenly as possible.

Bake the Casserole: Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.

Cool and Dust: Remove from the oven and allow the casserole to cool for at least 15 minutes. Once cooled, dust the top with powdered sugar.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature. Optionally top with fresh berries for a delightful touch!
