Ingredients

1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients required for baking, usually eggs, water, and oil)

1 recipe of vanilla buttercream frosting (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup of blue food coloring

1 cup of mini chocolate chip cookies (plus extra for toppings)

1/2 cup of chocolate sauce (optional for layering)

Crushed Oreos (for garnish)

1 cup of milk (for soaking the cake)

Instructions

Bake the Cakes: Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions. Once baked, allow the cakes to cool completely. Once cooled, crumble the cakes into small pieces.

Prepare the Buttercream: If making homemade buttercream frosting, beat together 1 cup of softened butter with 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of heavy cream, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Divide the frosting into two bowls. In one bowl, mix in the blue food coloring until you reach the desired Cookie Monster shade.

      Assemble the Cake Jars:

        - Take small mason jars or clear cups to create your layers.

          - Begin by adding a layer of crumbled chocolate cake at the bottom of each jar.

            - Drizzle a little chocolate sauce over the cake layer if desired.

              - Next, add a layer of vanilla buttercream, followed by a few mini chocolate chip cookies.

                - Continue layering with chocolate cake, blue buttercream, and cookies until the jars are filled, leaving some space at the top.

Finalize the Jars: Top the jars with a generous dollop of blue buttercream frosting. For an extra Cookie Monster touch, place a couple of mini cookies on top, and sprinkle crushed Oreos around the edges to create a crumb look.

Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the cake jars for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors meld together. Serve chilled, and enjoy the delightful Cookie Monster experience!
