Ingredients

For the Bars:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup milk

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:

4 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2-3 tablespoons milk (more if needed)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.

Prepare the Dough: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and milk until fully combined.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not over-mix; it’s okay if the batter is a little lumpy.

Make the Cinnamon Swirl: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and melted butter. Mix until it forms a paste.

Assemble the Bars: Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Drizzle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter. Using a knife or a skewer, gently swirl the cinnamon mixture into the batter.

Layer the Remaining Batter: Pour the remaining batter on top and smooth it out. Drizzle the rest of the cinnamon swirl mixture on top, and use a knife to swirl it through the top layer for a beautiful marbled effect.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center. Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

Prepare the Cream Cheese Frosting: While the bars cool, in a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, softened butter, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Add more milk if necessary for a spreadable consistency.

Frost the Bars: Once the bars have cooled completely, spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top.

Serve and Enjoy: Slice the bars into squares or rectangles and serve. These bars can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
