Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup toasted pecans, chopped

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup maple syrup (for drizzling)

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.

Cut in Butter: Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour this mixture into the flour and butter mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix.

Incorporate Pecans: Fold in the chopped toasted pecans until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Shape the Scones: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it holds together. Pat it into a circle about 1-inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake: Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare Maple Drizzle: While the scones are baking, mix the maple syrup and powdered sugar in a small bowl until smooth. You can adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar or maple syrup as needed.

Cool and Drizzle: Once the scones are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet. Drizzle the maple glaze over the warm scones.

Serve: Serve the buttery maple pecan scones warm or at room temperature with butter or clotted cream for an extra treat!
