Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, sliced

1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple, undrained

1 jar (10 oz) maraschino cherries, drained

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup chocolate chips

Whipped cream (for serving)

Chocolate syrup (for drizzling)

Maraschino cherries (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.

Layer the Base: In the prepared baking dish, spread the sliced bananas evenly across the bottom. Pour the crushed pineapple (with juice) over the bananas.

Add Toppings: Disperse the maraschino cherries evenly over the pineapple. If you're using nuts, sprinkle them on top for an extra crunch.

Sprinkle Cake Mix: Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix on top of the fruit layer. Do not stir; just spread it out as evenly as possible.

Butter It Up: Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix. Make sure to cover as much of the dry cake mix as possible.

Add Final Layers: Sprinkle the shredded coconut and chocolate chips on top of the buttered cake mix layer.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Cool & Serve: Allow the cake to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with whipped cream on top, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a maraschino cherry for that classic banana split presentation.
