Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 pound ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Garlic Gravy:

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 cups chicken broth (low-sodium)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Mix Meatball Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, and parsley (if using). Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

Form Meatballs: Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced evenly apart.

Bake the Meatballs: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and golden on the outside. An internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) should be reached.

Prepare Garlic Gravy: While the meatballs are baking, melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add in the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

Make the Roux: Stir in the flour and cook for another minute to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps.

Simmer the Gravy: Add Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the gravy simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until it thickens.

Serve: Once the meatballs are done baking, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a serving platter. Pour the garlic gravy over the meatballs and garnish with fresh parsley.

Enjoy: Serve these savory baked turkey meatballs with garlic gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta, and enjoy your delicious homemade dish!
