Ingredients

10 chicken drumsticks

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon brown sugar

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for spice preference)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top (this allows for even cooking and crispiness).

Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well to form a paste.

Coat the Chicken: Add the chicken drumsticks to the bowl and toss them in the marinade until they are evenly coated. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes, or for enhanced flavor, refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Bake the Drumsticks: Place the marinated drumsticks on the wire rack in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Add BBQ Sauce: After 25 minutes, remove the drumsticks from the oven and brush half of the BBQ sauce over each piece. Return them to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Final Glaze: Take the drumsticks out again, flip them over, and brush the remaining BBQ sauce on the other side. Bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy.

Check Doneness: Ensure the internal temperature of the drumsticks reaches 165°F (74°C). If you have a broil setting, for an extra crisp, broil for 2-3 minutes at the end, keeping a watchful eye to avoid burning.

Serve: Remove from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side and enjoy!
