Ingredients

3 medium apples (such as Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)

Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 225°F (107°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Prepare the Apples: Wash and dry the apples. Remove the core using an apple corer or a small knife. Slice the apples very thinly (about 1/8 inch thick). If you have a mandoline slicer, this would be a great time to use it for even slices.

Add Lemon Juice: Place the apple slices in a large bowl and toss them gently with lemon juice. This will help prevent browning and enhance the flavor.

Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and pinch of sea salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Season the Apple Slices: Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mix over the apple slices, making sure to coat both sides. You can use about half of the mixture initially, reserving the rest for later.

Arrange the Slices: Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they do not overlap to achieve crispy chips.

Bake: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour. After the first hour, flip the apples over and bake for an additional 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the chips are dry and crispy. Keep an eye on them during the last portion of baking to prevent burning.

Cool and Final Touch: Once done, remove the apple chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheets. If desired, sprinkle any remaining cinnamon sugar over the chips while they are still warm for extra flavor.

Store: Once cooled, store the chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
